Hosted PBX, the whole phone system in the cloud
A hosted PBX puts your entire phone system — extensions, IVR menus, call queues, voicemail, and routing — in Voipcom’s cloud instead of a box in the closet, fully managed and ready to scale from a browser.
How it works
From first call to fully handled
No rip-and-replace projects. We meet your stack where it is.
Map
We document your extensions, IVR menus, queues, and after-hours rules, then rebuild that dial plan on the hosted platform so callers experience no change.
Port & provision
Your numbers move to us and phones arrive pre-provisioned. Your old PBX keeps running the whole time, so there’s no gap in coverage.
Cut over & manage
We flip service on a scheduled day, test inbound and outbound, then own the upkeep — every future change is a request, not a project.
Why it matters
The on-prem PBX is a depreciating liability
A traditional PBX is a server you own, patch, and pray over: it ages in a closet, needs a truck roll to change, and becomes a single point of failure the day the office floods or the power supply dies. Every move, add, or change is a ticket and a wait.
Hosted PBX moves all of that to the cloud. The dial plan, IVR, queues, and voicemail run on Voipcom’s platform, so adding a seat or opening a location is a few minutes in a browser, the system survives an office outage, and the maintenance contract simply goes away — because the upkeep is our job, not yours.

What is a cloud PBX, and how does it work?
A cloud PBX is a private branch exchange — the system that routes calls between extensions and out to the world — delivered as a service over the internet. Instead of a physical PBX appliance wired to phone lines in your building, the call logic runs on Voipcom’s platform: a caller hits your main number, the IVR answers, queues hold and distribute calls, and routing rules send each one to the right extension, all in the cloud. Your phones and apps simply register to that platform from wherever they are.
Because the PBX is software, capacity and features are no longer tied to a box you sized years ago. You add seats, open a location, or change an after-hours flow from a browser, and resilience is built in — if the office loses power or internet, calls keep flowing to mobile apps and failover numbers. It’s the same architecture behind modern cloud phone systems, run as a fully managed service rather than something you operate yourself.
What we offer
Everything a PBX does, run for you
The full feature set of an enterprise PBX, delivered as a managed cloud service.
Extensions & Ring Groups
Every person and department gets an extension; ring groups and hunt rules put calls in front of whoever should answer.
IVR & Auto-Attendants
Multi-level menus greet callers and route them by choice, so the right team picks up without a receptionist relaying every call.
Call Queues & ACD
Hold callers in queue with announcements and route them to the next available agent instead of dumping them to voicemail.
Voicemail-to-Email
Messages arrive as audio and searchable transcripts in the inbox, so nothing waits on a desk phone light.
Time-of-Day & Geographic Routing
Business hours, holidays, and after-hours flows are configured once and run themselves across every location.
No Hardware to Maintain
No PBX server, no maintenance contract, no truck roll for changes — provisioning and upkeep are part of the service.
The difference
On-prem PBX vs hosted PBX
What changes when the phone system stops being hardware you own.

FAQ
Common questions
What is a hosted PBX? +
A hosted PBX (also called cloud PBX) is a business phone system whose call-handling brain — extensions, IVR menus, call queues, voicemail, and routing — runs in a provider’s cloud instead of on a server in your office. Your phones and apps connect over the internet, and there’s no on-premise PBX box to buy, patch, or maintain. With Voipcom the whole thing is provisioned, monitored, and changed for you.
How is hosted PBX different from cloud PBX? +
They’re the same thing. "Hosted PBX" and "cloud PBX" both describe a PBX that lives in a provider’s data center rather than your closet — the terms are used interchangeably across the industry, and Voipcom delivers either name you call it.
Do we need any hardware on-site? +
No PBX hardware. You can use desk phones if you want them, but the system itself runs in our cloud — desk phones, the desktop app, and the mobile app all connect over your internet. There’s nothing to rack, patch, or repair on-site.
Can we migrate from our old PBX without downtime? +
Yes. We rebuild your dial plan on the hosted platform, port your numbers, and keep your existing PBX live until the cutover completes — so callers reach you the entire time and the only change they notice is better call handling.
Is hosted PBX the same as your business VoIP service? +
Hosted PBX is the technology underneath; business VoIP is the broader managed offering built on it. This page covers the platform — extensions, IVR, queues, routing — while our business VoIP and cloud phone systems page covers the full service, pricing, and what’s included.
